Retro Gatsby

This quilt is 'SEW' much fun!! Yes, it's time consuming....lots of little pieces. But if you like a challenge....it is FABULOUS!! I am truly enjoying it so much!! The fabrics are STUNNING!!!

Deb Tucker....I've been THANKFUL to YOU since I started this!! I've used the tucker trimmer, square squared and wing clipper tools in making these blocks. They are SO VERY helpful!! My blocks are so much cleaner and more accurate because of these great tools. THANK YOU DEB!

Marge's new quilt!!

Marge (my friend/student) made this quilt! This is only her second quilt ever!!---Didn't she do a fantastic job?!!! Pattern is "Take 5 on Point" https://www.quiltersobsession.com/take-gets-the-point-p-2259.html though we made it much larger (finished size is 104 x 104 inches). GREAT JOB MARGE!!!

Ethan Allen (post - part 2)

So...my suggestion to everyone: If you have an Ethan Allen table that is less than 5 years old, go see if it has these narrow wood rails. If so, go do the Samba on it--jump up and down and break the damn thing while it's still under warranty. Please send this to all your friends and DON"T buy from Ethan Allen again! They have LOUSY products and even worse customer service (in my opinion) Do you agree?

This is my $1,200 , 11 year old Ethan Allen table. It is now broken on the floor of my dining room. Ethan Allen's response: "We have a 5 year warranty". I personally think it is very poorly designed: a very long table with legs at the ends (obviously) with two wide and very heavy leaves being supported by narrow wood slide rails---obviously not strong enough!! Don't you think Ethan Allen has a reputation for quality products?---NOT!!! Don't you think an expensive table should last more than 5 years? Don't you think 11 years is a reasonable expectation for an expensive dining room table?

Mini Messenger

We just changed the front flap to have vertical rows (2 1/2 and 1 1/2 inch strips) instead of the patchwork. The rest of the pattern is the same. I made three of these this past weekend. Two for nieces and one for daughter. They are all getting rave reviews from their friends and teachers! It's a nice size bag....11 x 11; perfect for a small carry all tote. Nice long straps to wear across your body; or shorten for a regular shoulder bag. What do you think?

License Plate Quilt

While visiting my sister in Atlanta, we went to the Village Tavern (actually a very nice restaurant with excellent food). They have this quilt over the fireplace. It is completely made from license plates. Way cool, don't you think?

Autumn Harvest....

Yes, it's only July, but I'm thinking autumn!! The air will be cool, the trees colorful and beautiful---it is my FAVORITE time of year. I just started a new quilt featuring "Harvest" by Timeless Treasures. This picture truly doesn't do it justice. Only two block done so far, but I'm LOVING IT!! (not giving or selling this one---its mine--LOL!!) It will also have the GORGEOUS border stripe as the final border.

What a fun, quick and easy table runner!

Just 5 seams--sew two triangles to each end, then the center seam. That completes the quilt top, then simply layer backing and batting fabric, sew around edges, leaving 5 inch opening to turn inside out. Then stitch in the ditch and you are finished with table runner within 1 hour! We have several other border strips: Daisies; cherries; cupcakes; music, American flags; roosters; and Harvest (fall). OR make your own stripe!! They make great gifts!

We have a NEW option for our Block of the Month program. Wildflower Rhapsody but in BATIKS!

This pattern was originally done in a floral fabric. We've taken it to a new level with batiks---the same batiks as in the Tonga Rhapsody version. All of the 12 main blocks are exactly the same. The setting options are different. (See our website for full details.) The results are spectacular!!

New Scribbles Quilt

Hey...I figured out what to do with the adorable panel blocks! (also available in PINK!!)

I used a modified Courthouse Step block with frame and cornerstones around it. You can choose to keep like fabrics together (on the 'steps') or mix'm up and make it scrappy! What do you think?

I have these ADORABLE baby panels from the 'Scribbles' collection. We have BOTH the pink and blue colorways. Each colorway has the panel (with 6 picture blocks) and 6 coordinating fabrics (here is link for fabrics: https://www.quiltersobsession.com/fabric-shop-by-collection-designer-scribbles-c-1_10_244.html ).
Anyway....individual blocks are fairly big: 10 x 11 inches each. Please email me if you have a favorite pattern, or setting option that you like and works well with these type of blocks.....

I just started this today. It's a baby quilt from Moda's Lilly and Will collection. It starts with jelly roll strips that you piece into 4 patch blocks. Then add setting triangles and make vertical strip sets (with 4 patch blocks on point). So far, it's really quick and easy. I'm working on pink/brown version---we also carry the blue/brown.

Teacher gifts....I'm a busy bee...

Ssshhh...Don't tell my daughter's teacher but she has a quilt coming. Here is a photo of the quilt (yet to be quilted) and also lunch bags for the secondary teachers and aides. Lunch bags have InsulBright batting---this keeps hot things hot, and cold things cold. I've made three so far and I have a few more to go.

Garden Twist off to longarmer!

This turned out beautiful (if I do say so myself---smile---LOL!). The colors are just gorgeous (photo colors aren't the greatest---it's much prettier in person). Fabric from In The Beginning fabrics. It is the 30th anniversary--30th printing of this fabric line, so to celebrate they added the fabulous swag border fabric!! It's BIG (88" x 108"). I had a hard time laying it out for photo. I can't wait to see it quilted. Diana Leslie, of Twin Oaks Quilting, always does such a great job. I asked for a flower rose pattern in the center and for her to do custom work on the swag border. Its going to be stunning when quilted!!

Get Ready for Christmas!!

This beautiful (and QUICK) "Noel" kit from Benartex.
The pattern tells you to use fusible web for Christmas trees, however, I pieced mine. My son had a class a Liberty Science Center and I took sewing machine with me to work on something while sitting there for two days. It wasn't until I got there and actually read the pattern that I realized I needed fusible web. So they were easy enough to piece. You can choose whichever method you prefer. It's MY colors for Christmas a deep red (almost burgundy) and hunter green. I love it!! What do you think?

Fabric Bowls or Purses

These things can be addicting!! (good thing we're Quilter's Obsession!!) New patterns, rope and toothbrush needles. There is really 'no sewing' in these (just a few tack stitches at beginning and end of project). Then you just wrap fabric around rope 2-3 times, then 'thread' fabric & needle through previous row. My niece is also working on a purse pattern. I just need to finish last strip, then finish off. Choose your fabric Bali Pop and you are ready to go. (this is the Spumoni Bali Pop). This was a great project to take with me and work on out of the house--I'm ready to start another one! Hmmm....what flavor shall I choose this time? Yummy!

Sorry for the long time away---but I'm back! If you can't visit us in person at NJ/PA/NY shows, here are a few pics of our 'home away from home'---aka our booth at a recent quilt show!

Please keep in mind: it may look a little messy, but we pay a lot of money for a small booth and we like to bring LOTS and LOTS of good stuff for our quilting friends! So we 'pack in' as much as we can. Always a treasure to be found!!

We have LOTS of fabric bundles (FQ and half yd cuts); LOTS of patterns (sorted by type: FQ; purses; home dec; seasonal; jelly roll; applique; etc...probably over 500 patterns to choose from!!). We have bins of individual FQs, Fat Eights and half yard cuts. Plus as you can see, many kits to choose from!

We have many loyal customers (THANKS GUYS!) who seek us out at quilt shows.

Most popular kits at this last show: Puppy Love, Coconut Meringue, and Olivia.
Only 1 or 2 remain of: Bahama Breeze, Victorian Courtship and Natural Effects.

We've had a busy, busy two weeks!! It was SO nice meeting so many Obsessed Quilters at the Philadelphia Area (Oaks PA) quilt show! It was a huge show! Here are a few pictures of our booth. Our biggest sellers were the Christmas Tree skirt, Gobble Turkey, and the Batik Hunter's Star. Off to the Longarmer

Hi!! Welcome to my new blog!! This is our very first BLOG post! yeah!! So please forgive the formating---I'm still learning--smile!!

But I wanted to share with you FIVE new samples are off to the longarmer---yeah!!

Our 'Turkey Gobble" is an original design using Moda's "Gobble Gobble" collection. The center is a panel and the blocks are simple modified nine patches. Quick and easy!

Also, a 'quickie' is Winter Friendships (snowmen). Again the center is a panel with simple piecing and border fabric.

Our Natural Effects is a big one---Great for guys since there is very little floral prints in it--it's mostly paisleys, stripes, plaids and 'raindrops'.

Victorian Courtship is SO pretty and classic! Plus, my fav color is burgundy. Oh I love this one!!

Metro Au Natural is simply a gorgeous layout for this fabric!

So....Diana (our longarmer)...here they come!!

FYI...If you need a GREAT longarmer: Diana Leslie of Twin Oaks Quilting in Levittown, PA is FABULOUS!! We use her for ALL our quilts! I never know what type of design to quilt on quilts, so I send them off to Diana and they come back gorgeous every time!! I love her!!
